Introduction

The Friends of Braintree Community Hospital have been active in supporting discussions which led to the opening of this fine hospital serving the people of Braintree and the whole of NHS Mid Essex. Since the reality of opening, the Friends continue to work to support patients, visitors and staff through the Friends' shop, ward visiting and contributing to the welcome anyone receives on entering the hospital. At the same time, the Friends also seek to provide a constructive critical voice to the services provided under the NHS brand in the district. Fundraising inevitably forms part of the work of the Friends, but anyone who wishes to keep in touch with the work can do so for a nominal annual membership fee.
